Your First Visit
Your first visit will be at least 75 minutes in length. Follow-up appointments are shorter, usually at least 30 minutes in length. If you have any extended medical coverage, you can send a copy of your bill in to your extended company and you may get a reimbursement. Fee information.
Over the first few visits, Dr. Fairman-Young gathers information from a physical examination, any required diagnostic testing and your medical history. She then outlines a two or three month treatment program for you, which may include diets, natural medications, acupuncture, and or lifestyle changes. Once your health has stabilized she outlines an optimal long-term wellness program for you to follow, which includes periodic check ups.
Health Questionnaire
Please fill out an Intake Health Questionnaire ahead of time. You need to complete it to the best of your ability and return it to the office by fax or mail at least 24 hours prior to your appointment so that Dr. Fairman-Young has time to review your health history before your appointment. You then sit down with her and go over the details and other items perhaps not covered in the questionnaire. All aspects of your health are important so Dr. Fairman-Young can provide the best possible wellness program for you.

What are Naturopathic Doctors Trained to Do?
NDs are the only licensed primary care providers in the field of alternative medicine. NDs are trained in a similar way as conventional medical doctors with one major difference: ND's focus on using safe and natural therapies to support your body's ability to heal.
Expect Your Naturopath to:
- Perform a complete physical exam and take a complete medical history: We suggest that all patients obtain a complete physical exam once a year (including prostate, breast and/or gynecological) by your Naturopathic Doctor. Depending on your current symptoms and medical history, your Naturopathic Doctor may recommend additional assessments, (e.g. orthopedic, stress or nutritional assessments).
- Perform and interpret naturopathic and conventional medical laboratory tests: We recommend that every client undergo a standard blood test once a year. Depending on your current symptoms and medical history, your Naturopathic Doctor may recommend additional testing, (e.g. hormone, toxicity or allergy testing)
- Diagnose medical conditions: Naturopathic diagnosis is based on identifying imbalances in body systems. This helps naturopaths treat the cause of the disease, not just the symptoms, as well as catch disturbances in the early stages before they become advanced disease states.
- Prescribe and carry out naturopathic treatment plans: Your individual treatment plan can include any combination of naturopathic treatments including: acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine, herbal medicine, homeopathic medicine, clinical nutrition, lifestyle counseling, massage, hydrotherapy, physical therapy and spinal manipulation.
- Monitor your progress: You will be reassessed in a follow up visit during your treatment plan. Your progress is monitored so that adjustments can be made if necessary, and to adapt to your body's changing needs.
- Work collaboratively with other health care professionals: Naturopathic doctors often refer to and work with medical doctors, massage therapists, chiropractors and psychologists to provide high-quality integrative healthcare.
