A personal Note from Dr. Fairman-Young

Why did I choose to be a Naturopathic physician? This is a complicated question with a simple answer: my sister. Besides being the strongest and most courageous person I know, her battle with the medical profession and need to be on a "lifelong" prescription regime had me searching for the knowledge to help her body naturally. It was this need for knowledge which drove me to my career in Naturopathic Medicine.

Every patient comes in with a unique story, as an Naturopathic Doctor, I have the opportunity to join their journey to health, to educate and empower them to take control of their health for today, and the years to come. No matter what age from infant to elderly your body wants to be well. Each system has an innate sense urging it to return to homeostasis or balance, and your body tries to find it, all day, everyday. The body is constantly repairing itself and people often only recognize a health problem as a medical condition if the body isn't able to recover from it on its own. Unfortunately that homeostasis is negatively impacted by many factors, including stress, diet, lifestyle choices and environment; they all affect the body's ability to restore itself.

I work with my patients to find the key to supporting the body as it moves toward restoring balance. Our goal together is to treat the underlying cause of the imbalance not the symptoms indicated by the imbalance. Restoring health is fundamentally different than treating symptoms. When a Doctor chooses to treat the symptoms without addressing the problem they have very little chance of correcting the problem.

It is my ambition to motivate and guide my patients to find their Optimum wellness, so they can reach their full potential. At time this will require patience so we must commit to keep on a treatment regime and not give up prematurely. In the end this patience will be rewarded. It is our vision of ourselves and a belief in our ability to be well that allows each of us to succeed. I rejoice when I see people’s lives changed by their decision to find wellness.

If the state of your health is not what you want it to be, there are solutions.

I welcome the chance to meet you. Until then, enjoy this adventure called life, to its fullest.
